Technical School “Dumitru Mangeron” started its activity on the 1st of September 1979. It was initially named C.U.G. High-school and its main purpose was to prepare the labour force for the Industrial Plant of Heavy Equipment (I. P. H. E.; Romanian C.U.G. – Combinatul de Utilaj Greu). Its present name is SC Fortus SA.
In 1994 the school was given a new name – that of a prominent personality belonging to the Romanian intellectual world – Ph. D eng. DUMITRU MANGERON (1906-1991).
The school is placed in a picturesque area of the county of Iasi, at the foot of the Cetatuia Hill; every year it celebrates its spiritual patron on the day of Saint Dumitru.
